About us

Urmston Meadowside Football Club was founded in 1977 and was originally known as Meadowside Athletic taking its name from its original base at the Meadows in Urmston.

The Club started with just one junior team and as it began to grow changed its name to Urmston Meadowside. Locally, the Club is known as “Meds”, a term commonly used by Club members and throughout other football clubs in the area.

The Club has grown from strength to strength and now has 78 teams from aged 5 through to youth and adults. There are over 1150 registered players and 200 coaches and volunteers running our teams and squads.

This includes a strong youth male/female/mixed and adult female/male section and also a mixed PAN Disability section.

Our teams play in several different leagues. The major proportion play in the Timperley & District Junior League, others competing in the South Manchester Girls League, the Altrincham Sunday League, The North West Regional Women’s League and the Manchester Amateur Sunday League.

The Club colors are Orange & Black.

The Club is an England Football Association 3 Star Accredited Club which is the highest accolade for grassroots football clubs.

AFC Urmston Meadowside was one of the first Clubs in Greater Manchester to achieve this FA status.

The Club is affiliated to Manchester FA.

The club registered as a charity in 2023
